More of a cafe-type vibe, pop in for their freshly-fried fish and chips and the Icelandic fish stew. It’s so warming on a chilly Icelandic day. It’s easily one of the best restaurants in Reykjavik for a quick lunch.
Alternatively, if you’re in the city for a few days, head a few doors down and stop by Messinn. Their plokkfiskur is so good. Though, tables do fill up in the evenings, so book your table ahead of time.
2.) Old Iceland Restaurant
For a special and totally delicious dinner, make a reservation at the Old Icelandic Restaurant. Just make sure to try their scallops (which are so good) and their lamb ribeye.
On a weekend, this spot can fill up, so make sure to make a reservation before heading across.
If you’re looking for something more casual for lunch, head over to the Laundromat Cafe. They have a pretty epic brunch. Plus, it’s right in the heart of Reykavik, only a few minutes walk from the harbour.
3.) Matarkjallarinn Foodcellar
The Matarkjallarinn Foodcellar has some of the best quality food in the city. It has a totally cool vibe and the whole team is so welcoming.
Make sure to try their spicy duck wings and their salted cod. It’s so nice.
4.) Resto
Not too far from the ‘Tales of Iceland’, Resto is one of the best restaurants in Reykjavik for tasty cuisine. It’s a totally quaint and intimate little restaurant with a warm and welcoming vibe.
Plus, for Iceland, the prices of their main dishes are pretty reasonable, too.
5.) Fiskfélagid
Okay, so Fiskfélagid is one of the best restaurants in Reykjavik to visit if you want a really special meal. It’s pretty popular in the city, and it has one of the best-tasting menus (around seven courses), which is so good.
Their menu has a range of dishes inspired by different areas of the world. Each dish (on the menu) details where it is. It’s such a great concept. Just be sure to try their catfish and king prawn with garlic. It’s so good.
